The Hotel Lobby AI trend in one picture

If you have seen two friends, two cats or two cartoon characters bobbing their heads in a bright orange room, sharing a single microphone that dangles from the ceiling, you have seen the Hotel Lobby AI trend. The format is always the same: two performers, one hanging mic, an orange backdrop and a short vertical clip. Only the faces change.

Two separate portraits turned into one shared booth performance. Both inputs are fictional test portraits, not customers.

Two pet photos, no people at all. Fictional test photos of a tabby and a retriever.

Two real videos in the Hotel Lobby AI format, made by our pipeline from fictional test photos: two people, and a cat and a dog.

Why it is called Hotel Lobby when there is no hotel

“Hotel Lobby” is the title of the song from the original performance, not a place. A Hotel Lobby AI video has no hotel, lobby, reception desk or chandelier in it. This trips up search engines and chatbots too: ask for a “hotel lobby AI video” and you may get tools for making hotel marketing videos instead. If that is what you need, it is a different thing.

Where the Hotel Lobby trend comes from

The format copies the setup of Quavo and Takeoff's performance of “HOTEL LOBBY (Unc & Phew)” on A COLORS SHOW, published by the COLORS YouTube channel on June 17, 2022. Quavo and Takeoff, two members of the rap group Migos, released music as the duo Unc & Phew that year. In the performance they perform the song in front of an orange background and share one microphone hung from the ceiling.

That simple, symmetrical frame is easy to recognize, which is why it works so well as a template. Swap in any two faces and viewers still know the reference instantly.

Takeoff died in November 2022. Some fans have criticized AI videos that reuse his likeness, which is one more reason to put yourself and people you know in the booth, rather than the original artists.

Why the Hotel Lobby AI trend went viral

  • It is instantly recognizable: orange booth, one hanging microphone, two performers.
  • Anyone can join: two photos are enough, with no studio, camera or editing.
  • It suits pairs: best friends, couples, siblings, a pet and its owner.
  • It invites surprise casting. Part of the fun is seeing who ends up in the booth together.
  • It is short and vertical, so it fits TikTok, Reels and Shorts without any cropping.

Concerns to keep in mind

Because the format puts real faces into a performance, it has prompted questions about consent, copyright and how AI services use uploaded photos. A few simple rules keep your version of the Hotel Lobby AI trend on the right side of those questions:

  • Only use photos of people who agreed to it, and only pets you own or have permission to use.
  • Do not use photos of famous people, and do not present the clip as real footage.
  • Check how long a tool keeps your photos. My Hotel Lobby AI deletes them within 24 hours after the video finishes or fails.
  • Use original or licensed audio. Our videos come with original AI audio instead of the original song.

How to join the Hotel Lobby AI trend

  1. Pick two clear photos

Choose one photo for each performer: one person or one pet per photo, with the face visible and well lit. JPEG, PNG or WebP files up to 10 MB each work.

  2. Upload them in the generator

Photo 1 becomes the performer on the left and Photo 2 the performer on the right. Tap Swap performers if you want them the other way round, then confirm you have permission to use both photos.

  3. Create and pay once

Press Create My Hotel Lobby Video. If you have no credits yet, a secure Stripe checkout takes $5.99. The AI then builds the orange booth scene, and a status page shows each real stage.

  4. Download and post

Watch the finished 8-second video and download the MP4. It stays available for 7 days, so save a copy, then post it to TikTok, Reels or Shorts.
